2019 Top Summer Transfers

The summer transfer period of 2019 has been one hell of a roller coaster so far. Expensive players, unexpected moves, large bids, overpriced and underpriced transfers are just a small part of everything that has been going on. There is no doubt though, it is as interesting as it gets.

One of the most exciting things for football fans during this summer, apart from the transfers themselves, has been the betting on players and their possible future. It is fun to mention that in the absence of football games, betting websites have opened a lot of betting odds on the players, challenging the punters to predict a possible transfer to certain players.

The betting websites have been flooded with online bets. Sports betting Bookies have been reporting a drastic increase in visitors on their sites. And you can see why. If a certain player is sold for £120 million, why not make a small profit for yourself as well? Some of the players on this list have been sold for outrageous prices, and the cost will shock you. Summer is still not over, and the fate of players like Neymar Jr. and Lukaku is still not decided. Neymar has a 11/4 odd to join Barcelona, 11/1 for a move to Juventus, and 20/1 for Real Madrid. Lukaku on the other side has Juventus and Inter as his possible future clubs. His Inter odds are 3/1, and 4/9 for Juventus move.

Eden Hazard

It was only right that we start this list with Hazard. Being glorified as one of the best football players in the world, Hazard has been linked to Real Madrid for almost two years. Everything started when he received the 2014/2015 PFA Player of the Year award. But, after the end of the 2018/19 season, bets we pouring in for next club. The top 5 were: 6/4 for Real Madrid, 12/1 for Manchester City, 20/1 for Barcelona, 25/1 for Manchester United, and 25/1 for PSG. After spending a couple of months in the shadows, Real Madrid finally unveiled him as the new signee in the summer period. His price - whopping €100 million, making the transfer as one of the most expensive ever made.

João Félix

The Portuguese wonder boy had a terrific season in Benfica. His 2018/2019 season has been excellent, playing 43 games, and clocking 20 goals and 11 assists. The stats attracted attention from all the big clubs in Europe. Atletico Madrid was the club that prevailed in the battle and signed him for €126 million. He was a target from the critics, saying that the price is too high for a 19-year old who only had one good season, but he has the chance to prove them wrong in the upcoming seasons.

Matthijs de Ligt

No one expected Juventus to be the club to sign de Ligt. After a very successful season with Ajax, reaching the semifinals and winning the domestic league, every major European club was keen to sign the 19-year-old Ajax captain. He showed true leadership and courage, something that every club expects from a top-class player. Even though Barcelona was close to signing him, Juventus with the help of Cristiano Ronaldo, swept by and stole the player under everybody's nose. Ajax agreed to sell de Ligt to the Old Lady for a price of €75 million. The odds for him joining Juventus were 1/5, and Manchester were second.

Frenkie de Jong

Every prayer from Ajax gained clout after the club’s unbelievable season. Frenkie de Jong was one of the key players that helped Ajax in the previous season, so it was only natural that every club in Europe will press hard to try and buy him. Barcelona was victorious in this quest, and they signed him for €86 million, plus €11 million in bonuses. There is no doubt that this youngster is set to have a bright future.

Antoine Griezmann

The last person on this list is Antoine Griezmann. After he announced his Atletico Madrid departure, it was clear from the beginning that Barcelona will be his next challenge. Manchester United and PSG were in the battle as well. But the odds favoured Barcelona. His odds were 4/6 for Barcelona, 7/4 to join Manchester United, and 4/1 for PSG. Even though there were some ups and downs in the process, he ended up signing for Barcelona for a fee of €120 million, but there is a big dispute in the transfer between Atletico and Barcelona.
