2007 Tips for the future
Starting XI Here's our team as it builds up from players that we've tipped during the year...
S.Fletcher I.Miller
S.Sinclair J.McCarthy L.Frecklington D.Gosling
A.Taylor M.Mancienne M.Beevers M.Cranie
A.Lonergan
Sub: M.Johnson

December
Name: Mark Beevers
Country: England
Club: Sheffield Wednesday
Age: 18 (21-11-1989)
Position: Defender
Flag Lanky central defender who made his senior debut for Wednesday in January. His assured displays in a struggling Championship side have caught the eye of Premiership scouts, with Everton being the latest club to be linked with a move.

November
Name: Michael Johnson
Country: England
Club: Man City
Age: 19 (24-02-1988)
Position: Midfielder
Flag When Sven took over at Man City in the summer and proceeded to buy half of Europe many were expecting City's line-up to be void of any British players. So imagine the surprise when City's great start to the season featured a young local lad bossing the midfield and weighing in with a couple of cracking goals. That's Michael Johnson - a fresh faced midfielder who looks like he's just left primary school but who's dynamic runs, tackling and all round ability have led to comparisons with Steven Gerrard.

October
Name: James McCarthy
Country: Ireland
Club: Hamilton
Age: 16 (12-11-1990)
Position: Midfielder
Flag Attacking midfielder who became the club's youngest ever goal-scorer when he notched in a Scottish Cup game. Born in Glasgow but has opted to play for the Republic of Ireland, much to the dismay of the Scottish FA. Already linked with the big 2 in Scotland and all the big guns in the Premiership. Interestingly, he's also had several big continental clubs sniffing around, with Barcelona and Sevilla reportedly watching his progress.

September
Name: Dan Gosling
Country: England
Club: Plymouth Argyle
Age: 17 (02-02-1990)
Position: Right Midfield
Made his full-team debut on the right wing for the Pilgrims as a 16 year old last season, having impressed gaffer Ian Holloway with some eye-catching performances in the reserve team. He has subsequently been linked with Chelsea and spent a week training with then. Along with Luke Summerfield he is one of the Argyle's brightest hopes for many years, and represented England in both of the big U17 Championships - the World and Europeans.

August
Name: Steven Fletcher
Country: Scotland
Club: Hibernian
Age: 20 (26-03-1987)
Position: Forward
With a thunderous left foot behind him, Steven Fletcher has come to the attention of many top footballing scouts with some fantastic goals and a near 1-in-2 goal per game ratio. The 20 year old striker is also decent in the air and is building up a healthy reputation as both a target man and a finisher. Despite having an English father and being born in Shropshire, the youngster opted to play for his mother's nationality of Scotland a few years ago, having lived and played football their since he was 10, and having recently starred in their U19 team that reached the European final in 2006.

July
Name: Michael Mancienne
Country: England
Club: Chelsea
Age: 19 (08-01-1988)
Position: Defender
Pacy defender who has previously captained the England Under-18 team, and has also played for the Under-19s. Unlike many other defenders who, by the look of fear on their faces, appear to be bringing a ball of stinking Dutch cheese out of defence, Mancienne has that invaluable asset of looking composed and assured when he approaches the halfway line. He spent mosy of last season on loan at QPR, where his displays at right back made him popular with the Loftus Road faithful.

June
Name: Lee Frecklington
Country: Republic of Ireland
Club: Lincoln City
Age: 21 (08-09-1985)
Position: Central Midfield
The 2006-07 season saw Frecklington play a key role in Lincoln's promotion challenge. A ball playing midfielder, he also loves to get forward and support the front meny, and his sneaky runs into the box brought him 10 goals during the season, not a bad return for a midfielder. His eye-catching performances during the campaign saw him make the official League Two 'Team of the Year' and he was consistently linked to a number of Premiership and Championship teams. Despite being born in Lincoln he has opted to represent the Republic of Ireland, and played for their B team at the start of the season.

May
Name: Andrew Taylor
Country: England
Club: Middlesborough
Age: 20 (01-08-1986)
Position: Left-back
arrow Classy left-back, and another product of Boro's famed local youth policy. A member of the team that reached the FA Youth Cup final in both 2003 and 2004, he has also appeared for England at youth and U19 level. Taylor already has big-match experience following two semi-final appearances last season - in the UEFA Cup and the FA Cup, and did not look out of place in either. Having previously played in a more advanced role, attacking, and providing support for Stewart Downing, is one of the strongest features of his game.

April
Name: Martin Cranie
Country: England
Club: Southampton
Age: 20 (23-09-1986)
Position: Right Back
arrow A member of the Southampton team that reached the final of the FA Youth Cup in 2005, he is also a member of the England U20 team. Cranie, along with fellow full back Gareth Bale, has been tipped for big things by manager George Burley.

March
Name: Scott Sinclair
Country: England
Club: Chelsea
Age: 17 (26-03-1989)
Position: Winger/Forward
Sinclair came up through the ranks at Bristol Rovers before being signed by Chelsea in 2005 amidst controversial circumstances (the Pirates hadn't given them permission to speak to him). A defender's nightmare, Sinclair combines tricks with pace and loves to run at people. Ian Holloway, aware of the player from his Bristol connections, recently took Sinclair on loan to Plymouth, playing him on the left side of midfield to great effect. Some classy performances have really caught the eye, including a cracking FA Cup goal against Barnet.

February
Name: Ishmael Miller
Country: England
Club: Manchester City
Age: 19 (05-03-1987)
Position: Striker
Another product of City's academy, Miller's a big, powerful 6 foot 3 forward who has been prolific at junior and reserve level. Handed his first team debut last spring, manager Stuart Pearce has played him several times this season but these have also included midfield and wide roles. With Corradi, Samaras and Vasell all struggling to make a consistent impact up front, he may yet get a chance of a prolonged spell up front towards the end of the 06-07 season. Great nickname too - 'the Moston Menace'.

January
Name: Andrew Lonergan
Country: England
Club: Preston North End
Age: 23 (19-10-1983)
Position: Goalkeeper
A Preston lad, Lonergan made his full debut for his hometown club as a 17 year old back in 2000. Injured in the 04-05 season, he's since regained the number one spot and has been named in numerous England U21 squads.
