Chairman at Villa from 1968 to 2006 (with a break in-between from 1975-82 when
he was booted off the board), Doug Ellis was one of the longest-serving
chairman of any of the major English clubs. He was nicknamed 'Deadly' after
developing a reputation for firing managers at the first sniff of trouble.
