The Holloways: Generator (Single) |

Harrisons: Blue Note (Single) |
Great song, even better video - the Wednesday supporting band from Sheffield's video for Blue Note is a remake of the match
scene from the film Kes with Steve Edge from Phoenix Nights as the Brian Glover-esque PE teacher.
Paris Angels: Perfume (Single) |
We've not heard this for about 15 years and still have the original 12 inch up in the attic somewhere. Luckily, by the miracle
tinterweb, we don't have to buy a record player but can just

Reverend and the Makers: Heavyweight Champion of the World (Single) |
Another fine Sheffield band. A mint single that will surely earn the Reverend thousands from
royalties when played as background music for boxing promotions up and down the country.

The Cribs: Men's Needs (Single) |
A corker of a single from the Wakefield band, taken from the forthcoming album
"Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever".

Keith Richards |
Ok, so its not an album review, or anything to do with his music, but this news about
Keith Richards 'snorting' his dad's ashes deserves a quick mention. And Robbie Williams
thinks he's rock and roll.

Gruff Rhys: Candylion (Album) |
The main man from the Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys is back with his 2nd solo effort.
And a decent one it is too. A bit easier on the old English ears than his 1st album
(well, it was sung entirely in Welsh), it sticks mainly to English but he does throw in
the odd Spanish and Welsh song here and there, as you do.
Jesting aside, it has some cracking moments - especially the last track - Skylon! -
a genuine epic ending.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen: The Good, The Bad & The Queen (Album) |
This is about as different to Damon Albarn's other projects (Blur, Gorillaz) as you can get.
Its all a bit strange, very atmospheric, and to be honest pretty good. Dont even consider it
if you're fancying a cockney-style knees up a la Parklife. This is more like a soul record.
Standout track: History Song.
Little Man Tate: What? What You Got, The Agent, House Party at Boothys (Singles) |
In a sea of mediocrity, these boys should be huge. Another quality Sheffield band hot on the
heels of the Arctics. Check out their website
(www.littlemantate.co.uk)
for videos to the above.

The Enemy: It's Not Ok (Single) |
Absolutely mint. Listen to it
by clicking here.
Guillemots: Through The Window Pane (Album) |
A couple of decent songs, but generally far too wishy-washy for us i'm afraid.

Oasis: Stop the Clocks (Album) |
We've heard people critisizing this for missing out so many
favourites, but with such a massive back catalogue of belting tunes to pick from, there's no way
every great song can make it onto an Oasis best of album. Stop moaning, sit back and enjoy.

November 2006
The Killers: Sam's Town (Album) |
| Not as immediate as Hot Fuss, and it took a few plays to really get into it, just
ignore the comparisons to the previous album and let it shione through as a quality album in its own right. |
The View : Superstar Tradesman (Single) |
| Quality follow up to Wasted Little DJ's. Roll on January for the album. |
October 2006
Kasabian: Empire (Album) |
Tricky second album ? Leicester's finest make it look like a doddle.
Stand out track: Shoot The Runner.
The Fratellis: Costello Music (Album) |
Decent debut from the much hyped Glaswegian trio.
September 2006
Razorlight: Razorlight (Album) |
Didn't think is was a good as their debut album on the first few listens, but its a real
grower and a few weeks on the verdict is a massive thumbs up.
Primal Scream: Riot City Blues (Album) |
Cracking stuff, a definite nod back to their 1994 album Give Out But Don't Give Up
with a real bluesy/country swagger to it.
August 2006
The View: Wasted Little DJs (Single) |
A gem of a single from these young whipper-snappers. "The View are on fire" chant fans
at their gigs, and on this evidence, they most certainly are.
Bloc Party: Two More Years (Single) |
Rip-roaring single, so good that they've decided to re-release Silent Alarm with this added
to it.
July 2006
No time for music, the World Cup is on. |
June 2006
The Futureheads: News And Tributes (Album) |
Inventive 2nd album. Standout song: "The Return of the Berserkers".
The Longcut: A Call And Response (Album) |
Another decent Manc band. Standout tracks are "Holy Funk" and the stomping good "A Quiet Life"
May 2006
Midlake: The Trials Of Van Occupanther (Album) |
This is magnificent.
April 2006
The Automatic (Live) |
Cracking live show, particularly everyone singing "What's that coming over the hill..." to Monster.
Morrissey: Ringleader Of The Tormentors (Album) |
Not a patch on some of his other stuff, but 'Life Is A Pigsty' and 'At Last I Am Born' are well worth checking out.
March 2006
The Flaming Lips: At War With The Mystics (Album) |
Standard fare from the Lips = another quality album.
February 2006
The Kooks: Inside In/Inside Out (Album) |
Catchy debut from Brighton based band. Stand out tracks: Ooh La, She Moves In Her Own Way
January 2006
Richard Hawley: Coles Corner (Album) |
Quite simply, a beautiful album from the ex-Longpigs man. Like stepping back in time to long
gone days when life was simpler, and more pleasant. And anyone from Sheffield will appreciate
the Coles Corner reference.
