The best football stuff from last month... |
Arsene Wenger's crazy spat with Alan Pardew. We're firmly on the side of the Hammers boss here,
after all he's been through he's got to be allowed to celebrate a late winner in front of his own fans.
|
Barcelona 3:1 Real Zaragoza, the scoreline suggests a comfortable win for the reigning champions,
but in reality Zaragoza gave them a real run for their money. Classic end to end stuff,
with no little skill, as Barca came from behind to win it with 2 late goals.
|
Bayer Leverkusen 2:3 Bayern Munich, 3 goals in 6 minutes, right at the end of the game, with
Pizarro sneaking it for the Bavarians.
|
Hats off to Paul Ince for starting off at the lowest managerial level possible, the foot
of league 2, and giving it a shot at Macclesfield Town. Definitely dismissing the notion
he's a big time charlie. Good luck to 'the Guvnor'.
|
Estudiantes pull off one of the greatest ever league comebacks, clawing back Boca Juniors
lead at the top and then beating them in a play-off to secure the Argentinian Torneo Apertura
('Opening' Tournament).
|
Real Madrird sign a massive new 7 year tv deal with the Mediapro agency, believed to be
worth a preposterous 1 billion euros upto 2013.
|
Fabio Cannavaro predictably gets his hand on the World Soccer player of the year gong with 40% of the votes
(Samual Eto'o and Thierry Henry are 2nd and 3rd). Marcello Lippi wins the manager of the year,
but Italk miss out on a clean sweep as Barcelona get the team award. Lionel Messi is named the
best youngster and Horacio Elizondo the best referee.
|
Tom Huddlestone's goal against Man City, sweet as a nut.

to see it.
|
Despite all their players now hot-footing it over to Europe as soon as they've shown
signs they can kick a ball, the South Americans get one over Europe as Brazilian side
Internacional beat Barcelona 1-0 in FIFA's Club World Cup Championship Club Cup,
or whatever its now called.
|
Matt Taylor steps up his crusade to totally dominate the goal of the month award by following
up his
wonder goal against Everton
with another
beauty against Arsenal
just a week later.
|
Ronaldinho's cheeky free-kick
against Werder Bremen. Come on, admit it.. he scuffed it !
|
Star winger Santi Cazorla rips Real Madrid apart as Recreativo de Huelva
humble the fallen giants of Spanish football 3:0 in the Bernabeu.
|
Internationally renowned comedian Peter Kenyon has us all chuckling when he claims
that that his plans to build Chelsea into the biggest club team in the world are still
on target. Yes, so all you Chelsea fans down their should prepare yourself for Milanese
stag parties and Catalan tourists. They'll be the ones bumping into lamp-posts
as they walk along open-mouthed, gaping in awe during the Stamford Bridge stadium tour.

What we listened to last month... |
Oasis: Stop the Clocks (Album) |
|
We've heard people critisizing this for missing out so many
favourites, but with such a massive back catalogue of belting tunes to pick from, there's no way
every great song can make it onto an Oasis best of album. Stop moaning, sit back and enjoy.

|
TV stuff from last month... |
Peep Show Series 3 (DVD) |
| Particularly the episode involving the weekend break to the country, lost on the moors
and Super Hans' attempting to go cold turkey. |
The Ashes (TV) |
|
Did we not like that. What a debacle of a start.
|
Lost Series 3 (TV) |
|
Quality first episode, seeing the Others enjoying a leisurely Sunday afternoon before the plane crashes.
|
Strutter (TV) |
|
Airing Sunday nights on MTV, for anyone who's not seen Mike Strutter in action
then check him out as he commentates on bizarre clips and sketches. Be warned though...
if you dont like your tv shows served up with more than the odd profanity,
then you might be best giving it a miss.
|
Father Ted Box Box Set (DVD) |
|
Fubbin' marvellous.
|
Hancock's Half Time (TV) |
|
Cult viewing. The guests are quality, the whole show seems to give off the image that
it doesn't really give a damn what's said, which makes it different to the conservative
content served up on some of the mainstream footy shows.
|
Revisita La Liga (TV) |
|
Does life get any better than settling down on a Sunday night to watch a game from La Liga
with a few bottles of San Miguel in the fridge ? Probably. But not in this country.
|
Gazzetta Football Italia (TV) |
|
No offence to Bravo, but why is James Richardson stuck away on Sky channel 121.
He's the best football presenter by a country mile. Quite why he's not on one of the main
channels is about as mysterious as Mystery Island.
And to make things worst Gazetta is about to be canned. Grrr.

Films we watched last month... |
Casino Royale (Cinema) Rating: 9/10 |
| A definite raspberry to all those who doubted Daniel Craig's credentials. Pierce who ? |
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (Cinema) Rating: 9/10 |
| There's not many times men come out of cinemas admitting they were in tears,
but this is one of them. Some inspired set pieces. Special mention has to go to the hotel reception scene immediately after Borat
has learnt how to speak hip-hop. |
