The best football stuff from last month... |
Northern Ireland 3:2 Spain, given their poor showing against Iceland, this was a phenomenal result.
And no fluke either, with the Irish outfighting and outplaying the latin superstars. Although
if you were a Leeds fan you must be left wondering why David Healy cant put in this kind of
performance every week against lesser opposition.
|
San Marino 0:13 Germany, great stuff - the sort of scoreline you used to get at school when
you played some tiny out of town school who barely had enough pupils to make an XI, let alone
actually play football.
|
The BBC's Panorama Bung Special, not too sure what to make of this. Ok, so Sam Allardyce and
some of the other managers didn't cover themselves in glory, but their was nothing really
concrete apart from some dodgy agents naming names without providing any real evidence.
|
Livepool v Galatassary, the Crouch's wonder goal. Did the Crouchster really score that ?
Or was it just a trick of the mind ? Maybe mirrors were used. Or Derren Brown.

|
Livepool v Newcastle, okay, so most people concentrated on the actual shot from Alonso,
but there was real comedy in the way Harper scrambled back toward his goal in desperation.

What we listened to last month... |
Kasabian: Empire (Album) |
|
Tricky second album ? Leicester's finest make it look like a doddle.
Stand out track: Shoot The Runner.
|
The Fratellis: Costello Music (Album) |
|
Decent debut from the much hyped Glaswegian trio.

TV stuff from last month... |
That Mitchell and Webb Look (TV) |
|
Some great sketches from the Peep Show boys, with a tip of the hat to Numberwang (particularly
the revolving contestants) and Sir Digby (pure Viz).
|
Extras Series 2 (TV) |
|
Different feel to the 1st series, but still some top notch comedy moments, mainly involving
Barry from Eastenders and Stephen Merchant's agent character.

|
Films we watched last month... |
Children of Men (Cinema) Rating: 8/10 |
|
Moral tale (basically war and people are stupid) of Britain set in 2027.
No children have been born for nearly 2 decades and the country is on the verge of total
collapse. Its really pretty moving, and Clive Owen is quality yet again.

Tough tackling Argentinian centre half who reads the game well and who's distribution
is second to none. Has been compared to Roberto Ayala, and why not. Seems only a matter of time
before he makes the move to Europe, with Spain looking the most likely destination if reports
are to be believed.

Classy Moroccan centre-half who loves to get forward and bring the ball out of defence with a mazy dribble
or two thrown in for good measure. Signed on-loan for Crewe at the start of the year from French
club FC Gueugnon and his performances immediately alerted other clubs to his talent. Nicknamed
'Magic' Bougherra, its been suggested that he should play in a more attacking role, due to the
success of his surging runs. Click here
for a video clip of him in action for Crewe.
