flag   Cancer Charity Match - Sunday 29th May 2011

Chesterfield Chesterfield FC Legends v M1 Charity Football Team

Phill Walker is a former Chesterfield and Rotherham Striker from the 1980s, and father to former Belper Town striker Jamie Walker. Jamie is now 4 years in remission from lymphoma cancer and Phill uses his extensive contacts in the game to organise money raising matches for several charities. This is the 6th of these matches and is being hosted at Chesterfield FC 's spanking new B2Net Stadium. Fresh from the Spireites League 2 Championship party, the new stadium will host another vital occasion as the Chesterfield Legends will play the a side filled with TV soap stars from Coronation Street, East Enders and Hollyoaks, among others (see www.charityfootball.co.uk for full details). The M1 Charity Football Team squad is boosted by the presence of former œ32m Spanish maestro Gaizka Mendieta!

A Family ticket of 2 adults and 2 children is an absolute bargain at just œ12.00. Tickets are on sale at the Chesterfield FC club shop, or you can pay on the day. The club have opened their magnificent banqueting suite in the West Stand, overlooking the pitch. Fans can book a 3 course meal from 12.00 before the game (adults œ15.50 children œ8.00). The players will visit the restaurant before the game for photos and autographs.

This is an occasion not to be missed and a chance for three great charities to get a real boost. If you're in the Derbyshire / South Yorkshire regions, get yourselves along!
